October 7, 2009 It’s Time to Have a Little Fun
Yes, we’re having a CONTEST!
Do you have a most embarrassing parenting moment? Of course you do. Would you like to share it with us? And then have everyone on the Internet laugh at you for the rest of your life? SOUNDS GREAT, I KNOW!
Describe your worst, most panic-filled, but-everything-came-out-OK-well-at-least-no-one-DIED parenting moment — bonus point for photos* — in 150 words or less and e-mail it to contest@lets-panic.com by October 31, 2009. The winner will receive a PANIC KIT! that includes fire extinguishing spray, a photoelectric sensor smoke alarm, a battery-operated carbon monoxide alarm, and several other safety items from the generous folks at First Alert.
The winner will also have their story published on lets-panic.com. Anonymously, if necessary.
Void where prohibited. Wherever THAT is.
*Points rescinded for photos of anything that came out of your baby’s back end. No, really.
FIFTY words? Or LESS? LESS than 50? Really? Because I could churn out 50 words just bitching about the 50 word limit. I’m pretty sure I’m about to reach it now. Okay, fine. I’ll try to keep it under 50. But it won’t be NEARLY as funny. I’m just saying.

posted October 8th, 2009 at 1:00 pmI keep hoping this contest has ended so I can stop feeling inferior that I can’t come up with anything contest-worthy; it doesn’t seem right to be a mother of 5 and yet so lacking in great stories. (I think the real issue is lack of memory rather than lack of horrific experiences.) All I can come up with is that once while my husband had the other kids with him, I left my home for two hours, forgetting I’d left the weeks-old baby asleep in her crib. (She was still asleep when I got home.) (Yawn.)
posted October 26th, 2009 at 3:50 pmThis just happened today, so it’s fresh on my mind. We received a developmental analysis (a checklist of social, physical and language development) from our three-year-old daughter’s preschool teacher. Under “Social-Emotional Development” was this comment:
“Julie is a very caring little girl. She loves to ask questions about the other children. She also likes to pretend to be a dog.”
That’s our girl! We’re thinking of feeding her from a dish on the floor from now on.
